Many of the followers of the Velomobile Channel have probably noticed that the last video on the channel is from september 2024 and nothing after that on Youtube. Not even a community post explaining what’s going on. It has been also pretty quiet in other social media as well. So what happened?
Well, life happened. I think I mentioned it in some post on Youtube that now that I have two kids, it has been increasingly difficult to find time to make any videos. For some time I tried to fit video production in between my daily life, but because it was so difficult, I quickly lost all motivation to make any videos. It has actually been pretty nice to NOT need to worry about the topic of the next video and how to find time to film or edit.
I’ve also been pretty quiet in other social media as well. In fact I deleted my Facebook, Instagram and Twitter (I deleted it before it was X) accounts. That has actually been also pretty nice. No need to worry about what to post next and also less doom-scrolling. You should try it too. First start by disabling all the notifications of your social media apps and see how it goes. The big social media platforms are now days mostly full of ads anyway, so you won’t be missing anything. The reason for deleting my accounts is that I ended up in this social media bubble of privacy concerns, so I’ve been reducing my digital footprint and trying to avoid big tech companies and their tracking. If someone is interested, I might write something about this journey to reduce the digital footprint. The story includes interesting self-hosting rabbit hole 😉
I still have few social media accounts that I use regularly, so some doom-scrolling may still happen. You can check my current social media accounts here:
I still try to go for a ride regularly, but I just don’t have time to ride as much as before. I still have two velomobiles (the Bülk and a Quatrevelo with e-assist) and one recumbent bike (Azub Max). Recently I’ve been enjoying some off-road riding with the Azub and I can’t wait to ride the Bülk without racing hood in the summer. So far it has been so cold that it has been better to keep the racing hood on.

The future of the channel?
At the moment I have no plans for making new content to the Velomobile Channel. On the other hand it’s pretty sad to see the channel so dead, but I just don’t have time or motivation for new videos. At least for now. It would be nice to revive the channel some time in the future, but we’ll see about that.

Moi 👋🏻
Enpä ollut aikaisemmin nähnyt. Erittäin mielenkiintoinen projekti. Kiitti linkistä!
Hi Saukki,
It’s easy to understand how life can change and priorities shift. I agree with you that family needs to come first. Your videos have been among my favorites to view and I appreciate you posting an update. I was concerned that something bad might have happened. It made my day to hear you’re doing well and enjoying life.
Best wishes from a fellow recumbent rider in Canada!
I am gutted, the best channel for information, and it is no longer updated.
I could really use some advice as a disabled person trying to find a way to get back on the road and improve my fitness levels; normal bikes are no good, due to loss of balance, and I worry about falling out of the seat on a recumbent bike, a velomobile looks ideal – except I am 133KG, and they all give a rider weight limit of 120KG.
It would also be nice if Velomobile World actually answered my emails asking about that limit :-/
Hi Saukki,
welcome to the club! I was indeed wondering ”where is he”? – And happened to read this nearly one year later, due to the same reasons. It was one of your first videos with the Quest which had a huge impact on my daily commuting. That video made me visit the ”Spezi” back in 2018 and I had the chance to ride some meters with Ymte’s personal DF. Some weeks later I owned a Quest, these days I ride a DF.
In the place I live – near Dortmund – many people see me riding the DF, more precisely: they see the DF with someone riding it. I always say: 90% of them give me a wave or a smile (espescially children), 5% are really upset (especially conservatives) and 5% SEEM not to care. These 90% are worth it all! And that is what you ignited! – Together with all the crazy inventors and developers, one could add. But it was you who set up the first professional media with velomobiles.
On the one hand I (and many others) miss it: ”Hello internet, my name is Saukki, and today….”. On the other hand I know what it is like with two small lookalikes in the house. Plus it feels like you have already covered all the main topics. Maybe someday in the 2030s it is time for a big update.
Wish you all the best and many good rides ahead!
